A Message to your Body this Valentines <3

Valentines is all about showing affection, appreciation and gratitude for those in our lives. It’s not all about love.

The same goes for our bodies.

In my practice, my focus on body image and disordered eating recovery is more aligned with body acceptance and neutrality. Shifting our focus to gratitude and appreciation can be a way to open up a kinder relationship with your physical body.

If you struggle with the concept of embracing body confidence or love, try this instead.

Write in a journal, or just think…

  • What about your body are you grateful for?

  • What do you appreciate about your body?

Honour and respect go hand in hand with gratitude and appreciation.

Why would we treat something badly that we are grateful for?

Let’s focus on treating our body with the same kindness and respect we show our loved ones. How do you talk to, fuel, move and take care of a body that you care about?

Next time you check yourself in the mirror or have a bad body image day, come back to this message of gratitude and appreciation.

Happy Valentines-and yes, I know I’m two days late!!

Be kind to yourself and your body,

M x
