Five Things I’m Loving

One: Reformer Pilates

Where have you been all my life!? A new, boutique reformer Pilates studio-’Common Ground’ has opened in my hometown of Richmond. I’ve always been into higher intensity training like HIIT or CrossFit, so it’s been a blessing for my body to move in this kind of way.

Two: Chili Oil

One of my beautiful friends brought me a jar of ‘Pepper and Me Sesh Oil’ for my birthday last year. Life=changed! I love the mouth numbing spice of szechuan chilli. A bottle/jar of chilli oil adds a lil spice to so many dishes. On avo and eggs on toast is bomb, or in @misspollyskitchen Dan Dan tofu noodes-damn yum.

Three: Walking my Dog

I’ve recently been recovering from a covid infection. This has been a time to really slow down and listen to my body. Walking my dog each day is a beautiful way to move my body in a gentle way, with the added benefits or being outside, in the fresh air, sunshine and nature! Can’t beat it.

Four: Queer Eye

The ultimate feel-good watch on Netflix. I can’t go an episode without bawling. A lot of inspiration and reminders about taking care and being compassionate to ourselves-gotta look after number one!

Five: My Bedtime Routine

I’ve always been a good sleeper-7 years of shift work leaves you perpetually exhausted. There’s been some changes in my life, and I’ve found falling asleep and staying in a deep sleep harder. I took the time to reflect on what I can change in my bedtime routine. As these few changes going are out of my control-and that’s ok, I know this will pass. For the mean time I am focusing on low stimulation and a calm environment in the hour prior to bed.

-Dim the lights (use my salt lamp and candles)

-Reading right before I fall asleep (this stops my mind from overthinking when my head hits the pillow)

-Write a to-do list of the things that are churning over in my mind

-Use the ‘Feel Good’ App from Deliciously Ella for sleep meditations (if lots of overthinking that I need to distract)

-Sleepy Tea

-Stretch and or lie on my Shakti Mat
